Folded Verse

Since we helped develop the identity and the website for this art exhibition, we thought we'll also try our hand at making a work for the show.

"所羅門的衣,不如百合花" is our Chinese couplet for Jesus's teaching on not worrying - "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these" (Matthew, 6:28-29).

Two to three folds were made on each T-shirt before the Chinese character was painted. We wanted to create a work that can be displayed like a calligraphic piece, yet can become something playful to be worn and enjoyed for its graphic design. For the wearer, the pattern is a puzzle for a Chinese character whose significance to the whole only he or she can explain.

The t-shirts are available at the Pameran Poskad show at "My Art Space" from 18 April-1 May for $42 each. There's only one of each, so drop us an email at info@ampulets.com if you are interested.
