President's Young Talents

Inaugurated in 2001, the President's Young Talents is a contemporary art exhibition series jointly organised by The Singapore Art Museum and the Istana. The aim is to showcase the work of young, upcoming Singapore artists of a standard that can represent Singapore at international art platforms.

We were pleased to be able to create a new logo for the exhibition series in 2009, and to work on the graphic design for the exhibition and its associated award/events.



We wanted to create a visually strong and expressive logo, yet clean and direct in its geometric form. In line with an exhibition co-organised with the Istana and an award graced by the President, we aimed for an elegant form that would also capture the sense of energy and dynamism of young artists whose works are making an impact. In addition, the logo reflected the exhibition and the award's role as a springboard to the next phase of their artistic development and career.

This thinking behind the identity was later developed and extended to the design for the exhibition website, brochure and catalogue. The logo's geometric form also allowed its elements to be interestingly applied on the design for the museum's outdoor banners, stage, the galleries and common spaces in the Museum, as well as the award trophies.
